It has been an honor to serve our community and you for 53 years. Regardless of how large or small the job, no one has ever been a number to us. We know and call you by name, most of all our friends.

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the closing of my beloved shop, Olympia Copy & Printing.

The decision was not easy or without many sleepless nights. As many of you know, I have talked about the possibility of retirement but the phrase ‘old printers never have an exit plan’ proved to be true. The phrase used to offend me, but in my case it could not be truer. I could not come up with an exit plan, until now, because our work is rooted in a love for our community and providing the kind of customer service that people deserve.

Based on the last 18 years of cancer diagnoses. At age 68, cancer reared its ugly head for the fifth time in January. The need to come up with an exit became obvious. The building sold in March and the new owners will take possession May 1^st. The business is also closing in its current form—I had to face the very agonizing decision, it was time.

It was of utmost importance that my book of business remain local. Graphic Communications will have our digital files and records so you may continue with reorders/new orders and develop relationships with them. Many of our customers already have working relationships with Doug, Pam, and Mel. We have partnered with them on past jobs and they did not disappoint us with their quality or timeframes. Please give them the opportunity to serve you after we finish the transition.

It is a great honor for us that you have let us share in your personal joys, graduations, births, real life family/business lives, whether they be the highs or lows. We laughed, cried, hugged and held each other’s hands all the while meeting your printing deadlines.

I cannot say enough about my staff at OlyCopy—they are the finest, loyal group of craftspeople you could hope to work with.
